For 2016 Orlando Lindy Exchange, known as ORLX, we wanted to focus on the fun, attraction side of the central Florida area. ORLX is one heaviest attended dance events in South East of the United States. Swing dancers celebrating the early 20th century grandfather style of dance, known as Lindy Hop, gather together to “meet, dance, hug.”
As a local designer and partaker in the weekly dances, I was excited to contribute to this year’s theme, and make it fresh and exciting for a new year. After continuing the theme of hand lettering and playing with the “O,” it was decided to focus on the ferris wheel. My research consisted of local, modern, and vintage graphic displays of ferris wheels and theme parks. After research came sketching and adjustments in photoshop and Illustrator, with the final step being a texture. Project pieces consisted of banner advertising on Facebook and their website, flyer layout design, and shirt apparel design.
