Má-tea was founded for the young adventurer wanting to sip on something more piratical. Teas are imported from hidden islands, directly from nature, and shipped from the Caribbean to you. Má-tea carries a vast amount of flavors to suit every taste. Their avid drinkers range from confused captains to dread-pirates (and occasional ninja). Follow your taste buds to the real reward that is Má-tea.
This project started out with copious sketches and calligraphy work looking for the right letter form. I wanted a slightly rough letter form, with a nod to a pirate cutlass blade. For the logo, I created a skull from a teacup and teabag eyepatch. As for the color pallet, I wanted to portray the luxurious pirate. Each flavor’s box is color coded with a unique nautically inspired design. After measuring out the template and figuring out dimensions, example boxes were put together by hand in the form of treasure chests. For the tea bags, the tags are in the shape and style of doubloons, and the teabags are a custom shape cut from coffee filters in the shape of money pouches. Product was displayed in a wooden treasure chest filled with plastic coins.
