The 2015 Orlando Lindy Exchange, known as ORLX, is one heaviest attended dance events in South East of the United States. Swing dancers celebrating the early 20th century grandfather style of dance, known as Lindy Hop, gather together to “meet, dance, hug.”
As an avid Swing Dancer of the Orlando area, I was all too eager to work on a project that combines my love of dance with my love of vintage graphic design! My research consisted of early postcards and graphics from the swing era, with focus on custom lettering. After the creation of the hand lettering for the logo, sketch was adjusted in photoshop and Illustrator and texture was applied. For the graphics on the website and Facebook event, a texture overlay was applied from and image of Lake Eola, a park that features what I see as one of the prominent and unique experiences for ORLX: dancing on an amphitheater for all the park-goers to join in on the joy. It was a pleasure to support what I see as a great gathering to spread to love and good times.
